This post explains how to provision an Azure Open AI service, including a GPT-4 deployment, and how to access it using the REST API
1. Introduction When thinking about artificial intelligence, the first thing that probably comes to mind are the language models that people love to use in the hope of getting a quick and precise answer to their questions or problems. In this blog post, I would like to describe in detail how to deploy the underlying infrastructure with Terraform in Azure to create your own Azure OpenAI service with a GPT-4 deployment.

This post explains how to create a custom dev container (including the Azure CLI and Terraform) for a GitHub Codespace, which makes you ready to develop with Terraform on Azure
1. Introduction There were three things that motivated me to write this post:
My first usage of the GitHub Codespaces feature (a few months ago for work) A presentation from my good friend April Edwards at PSConfEU, with the title “Every Repository Needs a DevContainer” April’s talk at my company in February 2024, which was about GitHub and cloud native development One of my focal points in my work and in my contributions to the tech community is Infrastructure as Code, especially using Terraform.

This post explains how to write a test for a Terraform configuration, using the Terratest framework
1. Introduction I’ve been using Terraform for almost three years, and I’ve created a lot of configurations so far for provisioning several resources on Azure. I really like to write Infrastructure as Code, I’ve also integrated it into pipelines, and tried to ensure the quality, as best as possible. But additional verification steps for testing specific values of the resources after the deployment, were still missing.

1. Introduction At our next meetup, we will have two talks, one remote and one in-person. Zoltán Lehóczky will join us via video call and talk about the Orchard Core CMS. Saeed Ganji will then talk about how to store configurations and secrets in Azure, the secure way.
Storing configurations and secrets, the secure way - Saeed Ganji [In-Person]
In the world of microservices, it is important that all the instances of our application have a centralized configuration store, in order to fetch the required configurations and when they are changed, the app gets the new values automatically without the need to restart it, more importantly, secrets should be stored securely and access to them needs to be also in a managed secure way.

Using Infracost to estimate costs for Azure resources defined in Terraform Configurations

The intention of this post is to test the tool “Infracost” for estimating costs of Azure resources, which are defined in Terraform configurations. The Azure Pricing Calculator will be used for comparison
1. Introduction If you are provisioning resources in Azure by using Terraform, you probably think of the arising expenses after conducting the deployment(s). My approach so far was to use the Azure Pricing Calculator, which works great. But wouldn’t it be even better, if you could see the “price tags” of the diverse cloud resources already in your Code Editor?
